About Us

Alton Community Association has been operating Alton Community Centre since 1975. The building was acquired thanks to the vision of Alton Urban District Council and now belongs to East Hampshire District Council.

The Association is a registered charity and holds a 99-year lease on the property. It pays a peppercorn rent but is responsible for all interior and exterior maintenance.

Volunteers from the membership make up a management committee of trustees who meet at least 6 times per year and are responsible for:

• Ensuring that the aims and objectives of the constitution are adhered to.
• Employing a qualified manager to administer, promote and advance the Centre.
• Keeping proper accounting records, which disclose the financial position at any time, and safeguarding the assets of the Association.
• Ensuring that all Legal and Health & Safety issues are properly addressed.

The Association is currently part of team led by East Hants District Council working with the aim of building a new Community building adjacent to our existing premises.
As a charity at the heart of the community, we are here to serve you but also need your support to maintain our quality of services.
